Summer has arrived and with that comes the rise in temps and added stress for your animals. At Aurora, we know how important it is to keep your herd cool, hydrated and
performing their best.
Here are a few helpful tips to keep your livestock cool this summer:
#1 Plan Ahead for the Weather:
Watch those forecasts and heat indexes daily. Be sure to stock up on all those supplements and shady options when it’s heating up. And don’t forget to give your herd a little extra time to recover and rest.
#2 Check Water – A LOT!
Water tanks can heat up fast in the sun, and small leaks or contamination can limit access. On those scorching days, check and refill often. Keep troughs and buckets in shaded, clean areas your animals will want to be in.
#3 Work Smart – Early or Late
Try to schedule handling, hauling or herd movement during cooler hours like early in the morning or late in the evening. Have a recovery plan ready with supportive supplements for the days you must keep going.
#4 Use an Electrolyte Supplement:
Hydration isn’t just about water. When animals are going through a stressful period like weaning, trailering or heatwaves, electrolytes can help replace what can be lost through sweat and stress. Our BALANCE Stress & Dehydration Aid is formulated without sugar or fillers and is designed to support recovery.
Water alone isn’t always enough. During heat and stressful events, animals lose essential electrolytes like sodium, potassium, and calcium through sweat, saliva, and urine. Without replacing these, even if drinking water, their system can be unbalanced. Keep your trusted products nearby, stay proactive, and your animals will thank you for keeping them happy, healthy and, most importantly, COOL all summer long.
